From The Desk of Dr. Brown....
Dear Donna, This posture thing!!!! I’m tired of hearing about my posture!!
But wait!
I am in the process of getting certified for CPEP. This means Correct Posture Exercise Professional. (Woo Hoo! Lucky me, and you, my patients. Soooo many health benefits for adding this to Excel Chiropractic’s offerings) Here’s the scoop why talking about posture should NOT be boring! If your body is failing you, it’s because of the asymmetrical stresses on your muscles and joints over time, due to repetitive poor body positions at home, at work, while sitting, while standing, while carrying a heavy purse and the list is long. This in turn causes SUBLUXATIONS in your spine….and the downhill slope starts.
Repetitive poor body position/postures are life habits that we develop over time, starting when we are very young, setting us up for insidious onset of headaches, neck pain, lower back pain, arms or legs falling asleep, this list is long, and also making us vulnerable for clumsiness, falls and injuries plus other health problems! I’ll list a few here you would never think are due to your posture, but might be you:
Poor circulation, cold hands, cold feet
Enhanced mental stress, less confidence, lowered motivation, low mood, low self-esteem
Slowed digestion, poor digestion, constipation Incontinence
Sleep problems, fatigue
Foot pain
Workout recovery issues – body soreness, inflammation of joints
Nerve constriction
Which might give some of you a moment of relief…. Posture is NOT about how straight you can stand. None of us are textbook models. Posture is more of a verb rather than a noun. Posture is dynamic, not static. It’s a trade-off between flexibility and stability; between the motion you want to perform and the effort your body needs to make that happen. It’s about your ability to control your body’s position in space while in any position especially if challenged, for example, accidentally stepping on a rock and not falling.
Posture is about Core Strength and Balance of the system all day long, whether sitting, standing, walking, working!
Stay tuned for next month as I learn more, we will dig deeper in this topic! It can be life changing for all of us. Something as simple as toning up those postural muscles and getting adjusted regularly can save us from the detriments of many “ailments and illnesses” we struggle with
Til next time….

Hello Excel Family! Let me introduce myself - I am Dr. Greg Ott. Some of you may already know me as it was a pleasure to have filled in for the other Dr.’s at Excel Family Chiropractic on numerous occasions over the past year.
As of April 1st…no fooling! ..I will be a permanent fixture with the Excel Team! I am very excited about this opportunity to work with such a great office and with all of you, who have been great patients!
I grew up in Sussex WI. I attended school there, played many sports and even then, had an interest in the body and physical activity. I graduated from high school there, going next to UW-Whitewater. I chose Palmer College of Chiropractic because of its deep history in chiropractic and was considered the “Harvard” of chiropractic colleges. I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in1994, giving me 30 years of experience to date! (How time flies). I am proficient in Gonstead, Thompson, Diversified, ART and extremity adjusting which are all hands-on techniques. I enjoy seeing people of all ages for whatever is ailing them. If I can’t help, I will assist in finding someone who can.
Personally, I’ve been married to my best friend Angela, for 5 years. We have 4 children together; Rachel, Abbey, Evan, and Emma. I have a great family and we do a lot of activities together including exploring the outdoors, roaming the woods, or playing sports.
I love being a chiropractor because of the positive impact that care can make in so many lives. It can help someone avoid back surgery with weeks of care or often give immediate relief to a tension headache. Ultimately, it is the smile on the patient’s face that we made a huge positive change in their day or even their life. Though I already have 30 years in, I have no intention of slowing down yet!
I look forward to meeting many of you in the upcoming months. I am taking on new patients on day one! If you are already a practice member at Excel and need to get in, I’m available. If you have a loved one, or friend who has been trying to get in as a new patient, I am here to make that happen!
See you soon,
Dr. Greg Ot

Last words about Vitamin C:
Dr Culp, when he was alive and in practice, had everyone on Vitamin C! Why??
To support collagen building and protein metabolism. When you are strengthening weak muscles, improving tone and function of soft tissues around joints, these processes involve collagen and protein. Our current SAD (Standard American Diet) is low in this important nutrient.
That said, don’t buy any brand of Vitamin C off the shelf. Watch the ingredients like fillers and other substances used to form the vitamin into a capsule or tablet.
Ascorbic acid is the most common form of Vitamin C on the shelf but its absorption is limited, with only about 30% being absorbed. Improve absorption by using other forms like sodium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate and liposomal form. Liposomal vitamin C, in particular, has the highest bioavailability.
The product we like is made by Nutridyne. But liposomal and made from sodium ascorbate!
We carry this at our office. $35.75 for 30-day supply
